May 2008 Issue

Here we are. Again.

Here comes the third issue of communiK in your hands.

A mix pot it is. We are starting off with yet another new section Quiz Time to give your skills a kick-start. You will be asked a few programmatic or logical queries … strike in with the solutions and the best entry will make it to communiK. Mail in if you have some interesting questions for our DCS friends. And as we try a new look n feel, take time to drop a line of feedback.

Awaiting your ideas, contributions or suggestions at communiK.dcs[at]gmail.com.

In this Issue:

Ayesha narrates her initial impression of Software Testing.

Shuaib talks about Open Source software and business, and the bit of sense-of-responsibility that needs to be there.

Usman shares an everyday life experience when you find yourself in no less than a wonderland.

Aamir puts an interesting riddle your way. See if you can solve it.

Suffering from loneliness?

Getting bored? See what Brian Russell has to say about Software Relativity.

For You:

We expect to diversify communiK in the issues to come. This diversification may include FYP briefs, poetry, reviews, interviews, literature, news and anything else that you may think of. Your feedback will definitely form a part of the process.

Ciao!

As far as the laws of mathematics refer to reality, they are not certain; as far as they are certain, they do not refer to reality.
  • Goal of Computer Science

The goal of Computer Science is to build something that will last at least until we've finished building it.

  • Software Design

There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies."
